FIREBIRD LIGHT OPERA
January - August 2023
SKILLS USED:
Brand discovery & identity: market research, name discovery, logo design, typography, core messaging and values, copywriting, flyer design, 5-page published Squarespace website design

LOGO DESIGN
One of the first projects I completed was for an emerging non-profit 501c light opera company in Reno, NV. After researching the market and brainstorming name ideas with the Artistic Director, we agreed that the name Firebird Light Opera was an understated, recognizable company name, breathing life into a genre of music that has slowly become forgotten in this modern day society, most especially within our local community. The director's goal was to bring the beauty of operetta and light opera to life in Reno.

The firebird logo embodies the spirit of the company as a whole. Depicted is a fiery bird mid-flight with an intentional reference of an "O" for opera. Born from the ashes of the Nevada State Opera, Firebird Light Opera seeks to redefine and present light opera, operetta, musical and broadway pieces in a new, modern way.
A few weeks later, I designed the logo and typography styles for the company. With the brand solidified, I designed audition flyers to be distributed locally and throughout campus at the University of Reno, NV. I met with the director the following week to help him write the Vision, Mission and Purpose for the developing company, and explored possible website ideas.

FLYERS | COLLATERAL DESIGN

In less than two weeks, I used Squarespace to create a 5-page website for Firebird Light Opera with copywriting, photos, logos, social media links, headers, footers and an embedded News video.

With my move to Tucson, AZ last October, I left the website in the hands of our board's president to update and alter as needed. I also received some fun logo merchandise they had made including stickers, a car magnet and shirts.
